Christopher Koenig is a passionate conductor and educator, he is committed to making music accessible and meaningful for all. His work emphasizes building strong connections between ensembles and their communities through creative programming, engaging performances, and lasting partnerships with schools and local organizations. Koenig’s repertoire choices balance timeless classics with new and familiar sounds, always with the goal of delighting both seasoned concertgoers and first-time listeners.

Koenig began conducting while studying at the College of Wooster and Ohio University under Nancy Ditmer, Richard Suk, and John Climer. He went on to teach at both the elementary and secondary levels, directing bands, jazz ensembles, musical theatre, and choirs. He also serves in the United States Army as a Sergeant First Class with the 36th Infantry Division Band, where he leads the Lone Star Band’s marching and ceremonial training as a Senior Enlisted Conductor. His military service has been recognized with the Col. Finley Hamilton Award for Military Musicians, along with numerous additional honors.

Beyond the podium, Koenig is a dedicated coach and mentor, helping young teachers grow in confidence and craft. He believes music is more than notes on a page—it is a transformative force that inspires passion, connection, and joy for performers and audiences alike. He lives in Round Rock with his wife, Jennifer, a master educator and arts advocate, and their daughters, Lorelai, a violinist and artist, and Cora, a flutist and dancer.
